Living on a continent marked by inequalities, South Americans are known for their fiery temperament. From Cold War dictatorships to democratic crises, Thibault Bourdon will travel through eras and cover more than 30,000 kilometers on his motorcycle over the course of six months.

During this road trip, he will interview locals from several backgrounds and specialties in order to better understand this caliente identity!

Scientists, politicians, sales people, entrepreneurs, artisans, survivors offer their first person testimonies about history, society and politics.
A banker explains to us the similarities that occur between decisions made in Argentina and Venezuela. Venezuela with its oil reserve, referred to as the biggest in the world, couldn’t be missing from this documentary. Even though the director chooses not to go there due to safety concerns, he has the chance to meet many Venezuelans in other countries where they sought their new beginnings.

In an alternative form of a modern motorcycle diary, Thibault takes us on a journey through some of the most beautiful landscapes of the planet, to discover the history of South America.

The continent that is home to the longest mountain range in the world, has also seen some of the longest dictatorships in world history, like the one of Alfredo Stroessner in Paraguay that lasted 35 years.

Dozens of military coups took place in the continent within the 20th century, orchestrated and supported by the U.S, mainly aiming to replace democratically elected left-wing governments. Pinochet in Chile, Bordaberry in Uruguay, Videla in Argentina, Banzer in Bolivia, Branco in Brazil are just a few such examples.

With their first person testimonies, those that were displaced, those that were tortured but survived, are the best ones to tell their stories. These are stories of resilience and hope for a better future.
